Mynvax Private Limited, a clinical stage vaccine biotechnology company is seeking applications for a Senior Scientist in Downstream processing to support its R&D and commercialization programs. Mynvax is based in Bangalore and was incubated at the Indian Institute of Science and is known for developing indigenous vaccine technologies for human respiratory viruses including influenza and COVID-19.

Role

• Execute commercially scalable purification processes for fermentation-driven vaccine candidates.
• Optimize purification unit operations from shake flask to 100 L or equivalent with insect/ mammalian fermenter cell culture, to meet project goals with respect to process yield, productivity, and product specification.
• Lead technical transfers of downstream purification unit operations to external manufacturing facilities and act as the subject matter expert.
• Maintain laboratory documentation in accordance to required scientific, regulatory, and intellectual property requirements (including protocols and reports)
• Collaborate with fermentation and discovery teams to ensure efficient integration of downstream purification with upstream process development.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders through meetings and clearly written emails, reports, and presentations.
• Identify and leverage external capabilities that complement internal core competencies.
• Review and apply learnings from academic literature, patent filings and public domain information, to long and short-term in-house process development, on an ongoing basis.
• Contribute to Mynvax Private Limited’s intellectual property portfolio.
• Contribute to Company-wide efforts to promote a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• PhD with 5-10 years’ experience in industrial process development roles.
• Experience with various types of purification methods, AKTA systems, TFF, biomass separation, etc.
• Ability to thrive in research driven, fast-paced environment.

Additional Considerations

Previous experience in the following areas is an added advantage.

• Working at a start-up or small company.
• Building and developing continuous downstream processes at benchtop/pilot scale. Familiarity with equipment(s), instrumentation, and selection of appropriate configuration for DSP.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements for manufacturing vaccines.
• Authoring or contributing to SOPs.
• Managing junior engineers, research assistants, and technicians.

Mynvax is based in Bangalore and was incubated at the Indian Institute of Science and is known for developing indigenous vaccine technologies for human respiratory viruses including influenza and COVID-19.

Responsibilities

In this role, you would implement upstream and downstream processing protocols for various protein antigens in small to medium scale cell culture bioreactors to develop manufacturing protocols for vaccine antigen production. Your work will have a direct impact on development of recombinant sub-unit vaccines for influenza and Covid19 and will involve collaborations with researchers at IISc as well as other Indian and international institutions.
As a new Research Associate, you will become familiar with product development, regulatory requirements for vaccine and biologics development in India and overseas, learn new techniques, appreciate how to work in a cross-functional team, and develop leadership qualities.

Qualifications

• Academic Disciplines: M.Sc., M.Tech., Biotechnology, Bioprocessing.
• Experience: 1- or 2-years’ experience with cell culture, handling small volume bioreactors; downstream FPLC processes and instrumentation.
• Fresh graduates with Industry based internship will also be considered.
